Performance slow
FYI. About a year ago, I discovered Chill Subs, and as a publishing writer, I immediately loved it. However, since the database has grown from 2K to 3K, and perhaps integration with Write or Die, the latency on the filter form and page results is so slow that it has become almost prohibitive to use. Maybe it’s your hosting server, IDK, but I hate to see this happen to your excellent web site and such a critical service to writers. Hoping for the best moving forward. If it helps, I am running IOS 17, using Safari on an iPad 4 with plenty of RAM. And BTW, I am willing to assist in UI/Usability testing if need be. Thanks.

Working much better now, thanks! One nit: the total number of db records shows up at the top of the filtered results page “3092” which can be confusing. Not a biggie but just FYI. Loving Chill Subs. Keep it up! Example below on results using 4 filters, showing only 9 records but “3092} at top:

ahh you're right, need to rethink that title. we've been experimenting with because of stupid Google and SEO haha. it was just Browse before but obviously it didn't like that😶

Hugh hello!! I invite you to try again haha. It's still not the final version, we'll improve it more in January after server load distribution setup, but:
removed real-time filtering on mobile and tablet
added loading spinners on desktop
found the embarrassing bottleneck: I loaded the whole tracker submissions database inside the browse for our response time and acceptance rate filters. After we added the tracker import functions, submissions grew to 75000 and obviously that slowed it down but I didn't realize how much. removed this logic from the browse and well, it's almost flying now

ah also! I'm adding spinners to the browse by the end of the week, and thought a workaround for mobile/tablet could be getting rid of real-time filtering for now - the only thing we lose there as showing a number of results as all the other stuff is not visible anyway with full-screen filters. This will remove any latency and we'll just have to wait when user presses the "Apply filters" button

Hey Hugh! We're working on this right now and are hoping to release the improved version in mid-January! Yes, the growing database is an issue and we're currently working on a new setup with distributed servers.
Actually I didn't realize it's this janky on mobile and tablet, we all are using it on desktop and there's only a slight delay (and we've been so overworked that didn't pay much attention to the mobile experience🤦🏻♀️) I'll see what I can do specifically for this earlier! And will definitely reach out to you when I have some improvements to test.
